Who Made Britain Fat? https://www.channel4.com/programmes/michael-mosley-who-made-britain-fat/on-demand/72406-001 Episode 2 was on last night.
Looks nice but for me the carbohydrate levels are way too high one slice is 23 grams of carbs, I used to bake my own bread when I was in my twenties and I do miss bread to some extent but I am not yet ready to switch back to a higher carb diet, the idea with LCHF is to get back down to your correct weight get rid of stored fat in your body and if you are not someone who is at risk of diabetes problems then at the end when you reach your target you can reintroduce carbs into your diet, I could put rice back into mine or even a little pasta once I get close to my target but you still would want to be keeping your carbs at less than say 100g per day for the long term. LCHF is counterintuitive to the story we have been told all our lives about fat but if you think about it if you are burning the fat that you eat, which is an essential part of LCHF, then it's not going to end up clogging your arteries, because its gone, burnt, any excess excreted as Ketones in your urine, whereas excess sugars will get turned back into fats and stored in your cells, and the only way that sugars can get burned and excreted is as C02 in your breath. You can get it wrong with LCHF it is not totally safe, not all fats are good for you, you can also plateau on it because calories still count despite what John has said, but the great benefit of LCHF is that it controls your appetite in a way that means you don't need to count the calories, you naturally without thinking reduce your intake and calorie count and there might be some metabolic changes that encourage additional fat burning over and above your immediate energy needs. John has been right all along in saying that Sugar is actually the problem rather than Fat, the abuse of Sugar when we are young results in all the fat storage problems that cause us massive health problems when we are older, but I would not be telling every young person that they had to go on LCHF, those foods they eat when they are young are fine the rules about not overindulging apply but if you find yourself to be older and overweight then at that point a diet of large amounts of natural fats is not a bad thing. But yeah I miss a bit of bread.
Again apologies I thought the Keto link had copied as well here it is! 8 net carbs Bread has always been my downfall for various reasons not just in recent years either https://recipes.ketocustomplan.com/recipes/grilled-cheese-sandwich-with-zucchini-bread/ Hopefully this will be a good option whilst I am at work
Ah, that's not bad, Almond flour, might be interesting to try, I basically stopped eating any kind of bread, I am about to have some Pakora a small amount, chickpea flour is really good and the three Pakora I am having as a snack is virtually all teh carbs I will have today and it should be just about 11 grams. I am not generally a cheese fan but again that was one of the foods that John was promoting he eats lots of it, I should give stuff like this a go as I would like cheese in this scenario.
I bought some avocados a while back but I let them go to waste which was a shame, I still have never tasted avocado apart from when I was a child and tasted a drink which was horrible. Spinach is great, beetroot I didn't know I liked until 2019 when I was served some in the Philippines, tomatoes are great in small enough amounts but avocado should be excellent it is high fat and perfect for LCHF.
tomatoes are considered keto friendly orange and yellow being the best of the lot at 3.2g and 3.0g/100
A weekend breakfast I go for the small and tart ones cherry tomato's of one variety or another and very nice they are, the black puddin is carb laden but it is so nice, sometimes this breakfast is all I eat for a whole day but when that happens I still feel full and don't feel hungry. And like all these foods tomatoes are good for you. I'm personally targeting less than 30 grams carbs per day.
Anybody recognise this by another name: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-10620419/At-weight-loss-plan-stick-to.html The “Full Diet”. Otherwise known as LCHF. My my, people are catching on. We knew that already I hear one or two of you say.
Me an Mrs Ash share half a fried tomato each for breakfast with the eggs bacon and sausage. The number of carbs from half a moderately sized tomato isn’t going to knock us out of Keto on their own. Mrs Ash isn’t doing Keto anyway, just low carb using the standard definition. Am also eating low carb granola with Greek yoghourt and a very low carb porridge that someone has come up with which isn’t bad at all.
Squeeze a shot of lime juice on mashed avocado with a little black pepper on top. Or mash up the avocado, add a little double cream and some artificial sweetener in a blender and stick in the freezer for avocado ice cream.
Avocados are back in season now over here had some last week, went to the local market today but they were in poor condition, going black, they won't drop their price no matter what.
Salmon every other day, springs here, snow has gone, geese are migrating back and expecting the hummingbirds to return soon.
