I don't understand this at all. What is a "chat log" and why would I want the UKBA reading our private correspondence? I don't want them reading it and Kor certainly does not. Surely a dozen or so time stamped photos and copies of the visa pages in my passport are quite enough? - but she has kept all the remittance receipts.
They like to also see correspondence over the period of the relationship too. Obviously if the relationship has been going on for years then I guess being sensible about how much you submit is the order of the day. Assuming your having a relationship in PI opposed to online then any other evidence would be applicable. Receipts of venues that you've both attended for example
Basically for those living apart there is a need to provide a blend of evidence to support the claim by the applicant. For those that indulge in chatting on Yahoo or Skype etc while apart it forms a key part of the evidence. To minimise the risk of not getting the visa its probably best to bung some in with your application if you spend most of the time apart. We also submitted a sample of my itemised phone bill as some semblance of alternative proof of an ongoing relationship. This was on the advice of the agency we used.
They really do need to see it, I'm afraid. It isn't just about time you've spent together - it's also about proving that the relationship continues (long distance) when you are apart. I know conversations are private, but it's their job and each application is just another one in their pile. I'd show them every conversation we've ever had if it meant getting that visa!!!
This is beyond ridiculous. Anyone else following this saga of Kafka-esque absurdity? start here: http://www.politics.co.uk/comment-a...stories-the-nhs-nurse-and-the-letter-of-proof and here is today's news: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/p...ttle-to-stay-in-britain-drags-on-9679464.html
You don't need to send details of the actual chat. You only have to show that you have communicated regularly. BTW, if you want to have 'naughty chats' I suggest using an encrypted messenger; that rules out the likes of Skype and Yahoo etc. I am now using VIPole - it is an instant messenger with both voice and video chatting.
Thanks, Howerd. So, given that I have called K, and or she has called me, at least once a day for the last three years and eight months, usually using Skype, is there a way of getting evidence that those calls were made?
I don't use Skype, so I don't know what message history it keeps. I did use Yahoo for a number of years and you could certainly keeps messages indefinitely but only if you enabled message history. Here is a guide on retrieving message history in Skype... https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA...for-windows-desktop-and-what-can-i-do-with-it
If you have communicated by email and kept those emails, you should be able to produce a printout of the number of emails and the first line of each mail.
Graham that's what I've got - all our chat copied and pasted into word. I'm worried that they could argue about whether it's genuine though. If people have the sense (like I didn't) to take screenshots as they go I think that's better.
K and I are coming to the end of the road, and not in a good way. The barrage of requirements has put her off - marriage called off, she is sick of the bureaucracy, the invasions of her privacy and above all the uncertainty. Thank you, Nigel Farrage and Theresa May.
This is horrible news, Andrew, and I sincerely hope that the situation can be rescued - I know it's not ideal in your situation but "Surinder Singh" prehaps? While your nominating nasty politicians to place at the top of your joint hate list, please don't forget to include Tony Blair and his New Labour fanbois for cynically opening the UK's borders to all-comers believing that they'd vote Labour our of sheet gratitude.
