I did have the chance to visit, many years ago, when it wasn't as widely known as nowadays, and always regretted not veering off route for a day. The next European drive I am planning, will feature mainly Germany, that is if the wife doesn't go back to Cebu for a few weeks. If she does, I will keep on working and only spend the odd day on some Anglesey beach...
Taking us 2 weeks to get as far as Naples, I want to see the Maradona window in the old town, also close by is Pompeii and the round to Amalfi coast for some down time, then move on!
While you are around there, try to get to see and visit the Caserta Royal Palace.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Palace_of_Caserta Not a single royal building in the UK or even Versailles in France come anywhere close to size and splendour of Caserta Palace. A MUST to visit
The whole of Italy should be listed as a UNESCO site. Too much to take in in a short time can leave one slightly disappointed. Please. do take your time and try to immerse yourself, albeit briefly, into the culture and atmosphere of the various places you visit.
Yes it was so difficult to plot the route, but have identified certain places on our must see. The more we looked the more we wanted and have had to draw the line! Think I need to be there for 10 month not a number of weeks,.
How right you are. I do really recommend this place for a bit of different relaxation. https://www.discovertuscany.com/maremma/thermal-baths-of-saturnia.html
