just offering a practical solution. i cant begin to imagine the sheer terror an animal would go through being shoved in a cage and loaded on a plane. i can remember trying to take my cats to the vet--

The young lady has done the right thing and left the cat in the Philippines, the cat may not have been suited for the British way of life :)

@tipipay - im going to recommend/insist that you bring your favorite winter moisturizer with you. I have an oily face so i dont usually use one but my dermatologist back in ph insisted on prescribing me one before i left. At that time, i wasnt really convinced since i never really needed one even on mild dubai winter months.
I now need to apply them twice a day since my skin is super dry- partly because i cant drink the required 8 glasses (you just dont feel thirsty) and then there is the dry heating and cold wind.

As long as the cage is to IATA regulations, fly with a reputable airline and they have plenty of water, they manage fine. Used to own a pet store here in Dubai and we had weekly deliveries of cats and dogs, birds and lizards as well from Europe. Used to ship pets for owners relocating also. Never had any horror stories.

Really?? Is it that cold? I guess the coldest I've experienced was like 13-16-ish celsius. And I'm sure that will still be considered hot compared to UK! I have a bit of an oily face too, used to pat 2-3 oil blotting sheets everyday. I think I will take this advice and bring plenty more. What kind of lotion can you recommend? There are some lotions that feels so "malagkit" on the skin. I think this kind of lotion provides long lasting moisture?? I use human heart nature/Nivea as they don't give me that oily kind of feeling.

It was negative four here in Newcastle last Tuesday.
In London and in South England, it's generally warmer.

You'll be fine. Just wear coats, scarves and gloves.

I'm actually use to it now that all I need is just a jacket.

13-16 will be considered spring or summer depending on where you live in the UK.

    Ayos lang. Masasanay ka rin.

Just bring anything that you are already using- anything local is good. I believe its better for your skin (less stuff to adjust to since its hiyang to asian skin). Then once you are here, you can buy or experiment on the brands. I've realized that even if it is the same brand, it doesnt have the same result. For example, i usually use loreal but it comes from different countries (loreal from pinas comes from china or thailand, loreal dubai comes from india and loreal uk comes somewhere here in europe). So its back to square one for skin care when you are here.

With all the jackets and extras I would wear, I'll be like a walking lumpia.

Took me like 5 days to adjust to the weather here in JP and 3 days to figure out how the water heater works. Japanese instructions you know...

Speaking of moisturizer, No matter how much lotion and face moisturizer I apply, my skin gets dried. Drinking water aint fun as the water is so cold in or out of the fridge.
I found a good Nivea lip balm that works for me. Now I wear a short dress in the house with no heater on. I can't believe it myself.

It's my 7th day today and I got myself doing the laundry in a different kind of washing machine which is different in a way that I put the clothes inside dirty and take them clean I have no idea if they're rinsed well... I miss the PH sun when I can't dry clothes here. :(

This vacation is a good introduction for the life awaiting me in UK sans the kiddo and English speakers.

I'm planning to go backpacking around the Philippines before i fly to UK on May. I've already booked flights to provinces in Visayas like in Leyte and Aklan (Boracay), also planning to go to Iloilo and Bacolod then go to Mindanao (Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga, Lake Holon in Cotabato etc.). if there's still enough time (and money) left, i want to travel solo to Vietnam or Thailand.

I'm going to miss the Philippines so much!

@katkatmachine sounds like a good plan!

Do you personally know anyone in tawi tawi or the nearby province? If yes, then its not a problem otherwise, i would advice not to travel there on your own. I know sometime the news are exaggerated but there are some basis for that news.

No. Actually I dont know anyone there. Hehe. I just want to go visit the place. Hmmm... I'll check the news before I book my flights. Thanks @Maley for the caveat. :)

I've read a blog before about traveling to Tawi-tawi. The locals are friendly but the blogger hired a local guide prior the arrival. I would agree with @Maley on this. Better safe than sorry.

If you wish to travel to Vietnam, feel free to ask me. I can recommend some places for you to visit. ;)
