I'm well aware of her past. In referencing "Class" I was of course referring to the monied, greedy, group who by hook or by crook (usually both) have accumulated wealth and influence beyond their numbers. The UK is one of the most divided, socially-split, unequal countries in the developed world.

And I'm also aware that a great deal of ordinary, working-class, folk are hunt supporters and followers. As an intelligent person you'll understand the history of fealty / deference to one's "betters" that still permeates social strata in the countryside - with many dependent for their employment / housing on staying onside with the local landowner / laird.

In fact I think there are far more important issues at play at this point in time - but May's views on this topic just reinforces what I've known for decades - Tory politicians are almost universally vile.

By the way - I agree 100% with your views on halal / kosher -- pre-stunning should be mandatory - with no exclusions for religious practices.

And that factoid has traditionally been espoused by those of a left-wing disposition having been popularised by adherents of Karl Marx. Thing is, many of the "believers" have never experienced Marxism or its derivatives and successors at first hand; if they had, they might not be quite so keen to promote it. There was a definite class structure in Soviet Russia.

That may have been the case before the First World War but it was in steady decline thereafter and had pretty much disappeared by the 1970s. Death Duties forced a lot of estates to sell-off tenanted housing, usually to the tenants.

I could say the same about Scots Nats but that would be a simple tit for tat! In point of fact, I don't recall reading that May has stated an opinion on Fox Hunting; all she appears to be considerring is to agree to a free vote in the House of Commons. Maybe. Possibly. But I suggest to you that a repeal of the Act is rather unlikely, given that many Tory MPs will be representing former Labour (ie socialist) seats and, being a free vote, are more likely to vote reflectively of their constituents' wishes. And not all Tories are in favour of hunting. I personally would wish for th3e ban to be lifted; it will revitalise the rural economy.

Great - but our views aren't too popular with those blindly pushing the diversity matra.

You don't have to be Marxist or even Left-wing to understand the existence of vast inequalities of wealth, power, income and resource distribution. It's really a no-brainer. The real issue is what needs to happen - do we support the inherent unfairness of the status quo or do we try and see a fairer situation - with more equal distribution of assets?

It's no mere academic, intellectual, debate - millions of people die in abject poverty - living desperate, wretched lives through exploitation and indifference.

I never suggested there had been a perfect socialist model - so can't see the point you make. The old Soviet Union was certainly not socialist - State Capitalist more like.

While not as important as was the case in the past you underestimate the influence of the country landed set. Ask yourself why gamekeepers and land managers (almost always in tied-houses) keep getting prosecuted, and risking imprisonment, by shooting and poisoning raptors. I'm sure you'll understand the pressure they feel they're under to protect gamebird interests.

Yes - she's indicated she's in favour of a free vote which does not equate to repeal. But it sets the tone - and when one thinks of all the difficulties ahead (Brexit, Health, Social Care, Education, Defence etc) to announce she's in favour of this is frankly shameful.

"It will revitalise the Rural Economy.":lol:

You really think so? You think millions of townies are going to flock to the countryside to hopefully witness a rather attractive looking mammal being torn to bits until it's guts and entrails are visible for all to see?

Maybe it's just me but I rather think that would put your average punter off their coronation chicken sarnies and prosecco

You do realise that all the Hunt clubs that existed prior to the ban - nearly 200 of them - still exist and ride?

There was a subtle irony intended rather than a rant!
