Only savings above £16,000 can be used to go towards meeting the financial requirement should you find yourself in a position where you are unable to meet it.

The reason £16,000 is the starting point is because that is the amount that discounts you from claiming most benefits in the UK if you happen to have that amount of money in the bank.

You do not need to have any cash savings to apply for the settlement visa if you can meet the requirement through paid employment. You can however use a combination of savings (above £16,000) and salaried employment if you fall short of the £18,600 financial requirement.

    Confusing isn't it? :)

I understand now.. Just Gibberish on them Immigration sheets. In regards to pay slips, it says that payslips need to be original? Problem is my company no longer send pay slips, I have to go online to view and to print my pay slips. Will I be able to use that or I need to somehow request to my company to mail out payslips?

Get them signed. And stamped if possible. By HR or similar.

Many people get their wage slips the same way now, my wife for example so I wouldn't worry about it too much but just get them stamped or signed by your line Manager just to be 100% sure there will not be a problem.

Thanks for the help. So happy that there is a forum that is dedicated to getting the kind of information that one needs. Easy to marry a Filipina, but a pain in the backside to bring them to the UK:);)

    Too true.

I thought I could just buy her a plane ticket, at first. :D

I had a shock when I found out the truth. Then I considered smuggling her in my luggage...

I did that over thirty times before bringing my wife here to the UK, all worth it in the end, imagine if there was no internet to keep in touch, we are fortunate for that :)

    Agreed.

Good news is that if you bang in a good, comprehensive application, meeting the requirements, it has a very high chance of being approved.

I look at the visa application like this, if you meet the financial requirements and supply all the required information then the UKVI cannot decline the visa.

Just take your time with the paperwork and get it right, do not skimp on anything.

Unless, they make a mistake. But of course, mistakes can be overturned.

But yeah. Well over 90% success rate.

after all--look at the huge amount of £££££ a visa app brings in--with no benefits payable in the first 5 years.---and most work and pay lots of lovely income tax. explain that to all the euro car washers.

You could consider getting a loan against your home to raise your shortfall in your income

I have now managed to increase my income to meet the £18,600 (extra hours at work ).
Haidee is going to Moscow next week reference English language test, A1 life style test is all she needs ?. Haidee has never been married unlike myself, I have the necessary paperwork, not sure what she requires to prove she is free to marry ?. bound to be something she has problems getting in Russia:).
If I am honest I am not sure what is requires and what isn't. Is it best to contact a specialist dealing with emigration or can we do it our selves ?.
