Went to a quarantine hotel at Gatwick earlier, what a depressing place, like stalag luft 3,just dropped a bag of stuff off but goodness me, dismal.
Most airport hotels look awful on the outside in my experience this is a Hilton it should be at least half decent inside. This one has a physical connection, a bridge, to the airport itself, I guess a lot do. £116 a night in December, hmm interesting 11 x £116 is £1276 (first day is day zero) so what are we paying £2285 for, a couple of covid tests?
Still looks awful and yes most hotels are awful near large airports some nice ones near Clark. Security bill
Fair enough, being someone who would absolutely obey the rules security never crossed my mind so we are paying for our jailers I've never flown through Clark too long a transit to Manila to my mind.
This last month or so I have been taking my 8 yo swimming at the local baths. No masks worn in the pool. But although the numbers are regulated, it doesn’t prevent clustering in the shallow end of the pool. I know chlorine is likely to kill off the virus but it’s an airborne thing anyway.
The air will still have covid if someone is infected the chlorine in the water won't make much difference, pools are extremely humid but not sure if the aerosols will contain much chlorine. I would love to get back to swimming but not safe enough yet and I probably won't consider an indoor pool safe enough for the foreseeable future.
I don’t think our local pool has been Covid secure either. Spectators and staff have been wearing masks up until recently.
It's like an outlying building in the chernobyl forbidden zone Not allowed to use it, I had to go outside round the back past the staff smoking area to the rear entrance.
The booster programme to be announced tomorrow. “A UK-wide programme of booster jabs to help prevent Covid will be confirmed on Tuesday, the BBC understands. Ministers are expected to announce jabs for the over-50s as part of their Covid Winter Plan, after advice from the independent vaccine panel, the JCVI. BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg said the booster would be a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months after a second dose.” Early November for me. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58552389
i just had the estate agent in to photograph and measure up the house. ive known him to talk to for many years. He arrived wearing a mask. I suggested he remove it--but he replied he preferred to keep it on as he had recently been off sick with covid !
