just playing devils advocate here...but what is the point of contacting your MP--after all, the applicant for the visa is not a UK citizen, but is simply applying to come and live here.

Isn’t it all about the rights of a British Citizen to have their spouse from outside the EU come and join them in the U.K., which is enshrined in U.K. law? Hence the need to establish contact with ones MP if this right is denied on unreasonable grounds.

    Or to that effect.

true--if the application is denied. but where the application is from a non uk person--they dont yet have any "rights" as far as UKVI are concerned.

Today was Day 83, so we are about a week and a half behind you @Crafty.
Have you had correspondence from UKVI at any point stating that your application is 'not straightforward'? If so, do you have any inkling why that is?
We have been told this, but despite repeated requests to UKVI they have avoided giving us the reason. (Although I have an idea why!)

Contacting the MP is on behalf of the UK Sponsor only, as they will only support you if you live in their area.
And I believe its on the grounds of:

    You could contact your MP

True - if the Applicant was simply applying to settle in the UK, with no connection to a UK citizen, but they are dealing with 2 lives here - one of which IS a bona fide legal UK citizen!

Since our not straight forward email, we have had no contact either. No call or no request for further documentation. nothing.

Same here, @Crafty, until I contacted them again today because that 'not straightforward' email resulted in UKVI 'escalating' our application and giving us a new '15 days from escalation' timescale, which expired (without further contact from UKVI, except a repeat of a previous automated email) yesterday - hence emailing them again today!!!

I have seen that sort of stuff kicking around. And I know applicants sponsors have successfully lobbied their MPs in the past. The difficult bit is whether or not your MP is sympathetic to your plight - their political persuasion etc etc.

@UKDJ are we the only two in the forum still waiting past 60 days?

I was wondering if I was the longest-waiting Forum member, at 83 days, until I saw you were at 91 days!
The irony is, at the beginning I was convinced that too quick an answer would probably be a bad thing (a refusal!). Now I have gone full-circle and am thinking such a long wait is a bad sign!

Is yours a straightforward application, in terms of earning above the threshold, place to live and evidence of relationship?

I believe my assertion still holds true, that is that there is no correlation between length of time from submission and likelihood of success. I believe there is an amount of randomness about how the submissions are processed. I do not believe the operation is run so smoothly and professionally that would make me conclude otherwise. To that end there is an amount of luck involved in terms of processing time.

I have seen other people get an approval after waiting 100+ days.
But i do wonder what they are checking?!

I've paid for priority and I think ours is pretty straightforward. Biometrics 20th June, Package in Sheffield 21st June. Mica's Cayman visa runs out on the 15th July

Did you include that in your cover letter? When we applied for my fiance visa, we included in the cover letter my UAE residence visa expiry (Nov 18, 2017). We put there that we were hoping to receive the decision before my visa expiry so that I would know if I would let my employer extends my residence visa or to give me a time to render my resignation and notice period. They were kind enough to process it within 5 weeks (non-priority). They gave me almost a month before my visa expiry.
