Ha... that must have been some marketing stuff I reckon. :)

Oh, and yes... I never drink alcohol on planes (or anywhere now really).

drinking alcohol on planes is retarded. In fact it is just about the only place, where I never ever drink under any circumstances. Although I never drink in the daytime. I drink on night ferries no problem and in fact I like to get absolutely rat-arsed on them, do the shipboard videoke with Filipinos and sleep in late the next morning - they take hours, before throw you off the ferry ; just because the boat docks at 7am, doesn't mean you have to get off at that time when everybody else does, you can just sleep in for a few hours extra, if you want. Ferries I do drink on and in fact I bring my own supplies and even ice in a cool bag because the prices on ferries are a rip off. But I never ever drink on planes.

Getting rat-arsed anywhere is retarded, having a couple of glasses of wine on a plane with your meal and at the beginning of a 12 hour flight seems pretty reasonable to me, personally I have more or less quit drinking altogether, I simply got sick of it.

I just decided that drinking alcohol seemed to be an expensive way of getting a headache and talking (or writing on message boards) nonsense.
What I now save on drinking and smoking (stopped 4 years ago) more than covers the cost of my airfares.

Not being self-righteous or anything... up to others what they do, as long as they behave themselves when drinking.

Pretty much the conclusion I came too Graham, I got sick of well...... being sick :) it is expensive and I even stopped enjoying the taste.

I did stop for a long time but I will have an odd drink now and then and I probably will when I fly as it helps me sleep on the flight.

Regards smoking, that just impoverished me, I quit 32 years ago, cold turkey, March 86 I think, best thing I ever did.

And in acknowledgement of another post that has been withdrawn, yes the use of the word 'retarded' is extremely unpleasant, there are almost no circumstances where its use is acceptable in the modern world and I should not have echoed your usage in my response to you.

It was a little more difficult for me to stop the smoking I suppose... as a representative of Carreras Rothmans... with 1,000s of free samples each week to smoke or to give away.

Never had so many friends as I had in those days . :D

...And when your car is liveried out as a Rothmans Kingsize packet... the neighbours don't need to wonder what you do for a living. lol

i gave up smoking in 1996.--a week before christmas. a heart attack and a week in intensive care helped. before that it was 20 a day. what would that cost now ?

I hate to think, I was doing 40 a day when I had money and rollups for the rest of the week, 2 tins of Golden Virginia a week and a silly amount of Embassy Regal or Benson & Hedges (up to 60 a day) on Thursdays and Fridays.

Emirates just tried to upsell me on my second leg DXB->MNL as well, that would have been £706 extra if I had accepted both offers, you must have reasonable status with Etihad or have been very lucky to get that Op-Up :)

I went for a long spell where the only alcoholic drink I would ever have was on a plane. Firstly because it was free :D but secondly and most significantly because it simply became part of passing the time pleasantly on a long haul flight.

getting rat-arsed on a ferry you might fall overboard and be lost at sea! Ah well we live in hope I guess.

it's obvious you have never been on a overnight Filipino ferry. That is not going to happen. All people like you want to do, is go to the Philippines, and help yourself to one of the women, and take her back to your own country like a sex trafficker. You have no actual individual independent involvement, with Filipino culture at all apart from this desire to import one of the women. It would never occur to you, to get a job there, or anything like that. And then you have the sheer gall, and nerve, to call people that unlike you, have had jobs, and have paid taxes, in the Philippines 'sex tourists'.

Cut down on those burgers, if I were you.

I have to keep a tight reign on my sugar intake. Which is a challenge as I enjoy chocolate, cake and the kids sweets....

And I have to ask my other half to kindly avoid preparing spaghetti bolognese with sugar in it. :)
