So we've received the 'decision will be despatched' email - we all know what this means

    Hope not Lisa, fingers crossed.

We fit all the criteria though  so it can only be one of two things - either they have decided we've not spent enough time together or they've made a mistake

It doesn't mean anything other than your decision is being dispatched. It's a generic email written in a neutral way and gives no indication either way.

But I thought 'your visa has been despatched' is the email you get if you've got it?

It's from the fco, Graham, not the vfs

We never got an email saying "visa is despatched". We had your email both times. First time wasn't succesful. When we got the same email again we, like you, feared the worst. but it was successful. So don't read anything into it.

If you look online there are various people who have received the same email making queries about what it means. In the end, some were successful and some weren't.

Yours said that? Everyone I've spoken to who was granted said "visa is despatched".

I've searched online. I can't find anyone who's had the same wording actually. I can find 'decision has been made' but not 'decision will be despatched'.

I don't see the wording makes much difference. We had no idea about outcomes until we received the documents/passports back.

Don't read anything into it. You just have to keep waiting, but at least you will now get a decision soon so you won't have to wait much longer.

And if you fit the criteria you'll get one in the end whatever happens this time.

Did they mention any number of days?

Your decision will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 working days unless you have been advised it will be returned by courier or have paid an additional courier fee.

That's what it says. If it had been granted it would have said visa not decision. This is from fco not vfs.

Quite confusing though. Anyway, has Mr. Lisa arranged to go to VFS in 3 days? He applied in Manila, right?

No we did premium so it will be couriered. Then I guess we'll start all over again.

I prey they have changed the wording of the email Lisa, I really really do, you should know definitely very shortly.

Lets just wait for the courier to arrive, I would be like you and second guessing, that's human nature. Fingers crossed very tightly Lisa.

From what you have posted previously, i just can't imagine it being other than a success?
Surely due to costs IF not successful, it would be worth appealing against a wrong decision?

Wishing you the success you deserve.

They haven't changed the wordings, @Timmers :( It's most likely a refusal. I can only find Maharg and one other online who got the visa granted after that wording. The vfs mails don't mention 'your visa' but the fco ones do.

Thank you @one world - appealing is a very slow process though. I guess we'll just reapply and go through all this agony again. What a horrible system it is :(

I think it must be failed in error tbh, because we meet the requirements. I am beyond gutted.

IF failed, then they must state which clause it fails under and just assess.

When my wife tried applying for visitor visa, 3 times failed, the wording was different each time and the last refusal began reading as a success, but wasn't. Although pointless, a letter of complaint eventually got them to admit to us the real reason for refusal. Learning the hard way.

Don't write off your chances of success just yet.

Yes I can't wait to see what they've failed it on. Probably the ECO just didn't spend the time reading it properly because it was a bit complex BUT we do fit the criteria. Will let you know as soon as we get the letter.

We never got a " your visa has been dispatched" email at all. Yet we got the visa.

If so then you would have a right of appeal. Or could ask them for reconsideration.

However, all is not lost. You may well still get the visa.
