It is possible to meet the requirements yet get refused. Occasionally it does happen, unfortunately. But like I say, it isnt over till the fat lady sings.

    Reconsideration is another option.

I think you can request a decision to be reviewed, before actually having to go down the appeals route?

Yes. Reconsideration is the term often used.

I thought you couldn't use reconsideration on a spouse/fiance visa?

John, I remember reading before that you didn't get the 'your visa' email - but I think the only mail you got was from vfs? Not fco? Or am I thinking of someone else? The vfs emails don't say 'your visa' because they don't know, but the fco ones do.

Reconsideration I think is only for those already in the UK - FLRs, ILRs and visa extensions.

Not so. I have seen a few successful reconsiderations before the appeal stage and after a refusal with the spouse still in the Philippines.,

We only got the vague email from VFS. Yes.

A point to be made and Maharg made it is that you cant count on what they say 100%. The emails are "standard" but not completely so. Its as if they have a selection of phrases to choose from and do so, on an almost random basis.

Wait till the passport is in the partners hands. Its too soon to make assumptions.

Reconsideration can take months though, right? I think reapplying will be the quickest way.

Yes. You can use reconsideration on a spouse visa. If need be. It often works too, if they have cocked it up.

Reconsideration can be remarkably quick. Appeals take months.

Better wait for the decision, we can speculate all night long, it will be better when we know the decision and refusal grounds if applicable which I sincerely hope isn't the case.
