Ouch! I know I gained weight @katkatmachine from all the fries I've eaten from potato corner (thinking I'm leaving soon) -- no need to assume.

Is this what made you think of that -- Tabang?:lol::lol:

Before I forget -- When you get the sticker, make sure your visa is already valid (within the validity start date) or else they won't issue you the sticker.

I know a few members here who had similar problems.

You can have a seminar anytime after which they will give you a seminar certificate (which they say is valid for lifetime). So once you get a sucessful application, all you need to do is go to their office and present the certificate and you will get the sticker.

Three applicants did that when i was in cebu for my cfo. I very nosy and was asking almost everyone of their business at that point and everyone was volunteering their own experiences and reason why they are there.

I'm tempted to get the seminar in advance too @Twilight2411 but it's a shame I live far away from Cebu and Manila and I don't wabt to fly twice just for that. Need to save money and effort so I'll get the seminar when I get the decision. :)

Do you live in Manila? I would suggest you get the seminar in advance and then go back once you get the visa. If you still have to fly to Manila or Cebu then I'd suggest you wait for your visa, you can save both money and effort. :)

I suggest you read the thread Joy just created few days ago. Not really particular with the seminar myself as I haven't done it yet. I wanna do it once I get my visa.

That's why we just decided to take IELTS and TB in Manila all in one day and since IOM is only located in Manila. Hitting two birds in one stone. And another plane tickets for submission in VFS and for CFO. :(

As @joi1991 said we will all get there someday. ;)

Same here, great minds think alike. Lol jk. Hahah I did the IELTS and TB test while I was in Manila too. Was tempted to do the IELTS in Cebu but the TB test is a pain, done only in Manila :D

Hi guys, lovely thread and very helpful/entertaining to read :) I had a few random questions to throw in if I may as I'm finally starting the application with my new wife, having just returned from Manila and honeymoon :D

    - just on the original docs list @Brom27 kindly posted,

    Applicant
    * Appointment confirmation -- is this the appointment you'll get to submit the application/docs in person?
*Confirmation of payment and relevant gov. fees -- could I ask what fee you paid and were there any extra fees?
*Letter of Intent -- I've yet to check but what kind of points do you mention in this?

The 28 day rule is also vexing me - I read it is to do with 28 days before when you click to submit the application I think, but still confused! We've booked the English test for 12th January, so after waiting for that cert I'm thinking we can't submit the application until late January probably? So for the financial docs, I've just got my December pay slip dated the 16th, but won't get my January pay slip until 24th January. So are we going to need to wait for me to have my January pay slip and courier it over before we could submit the application?

A final query on the form and Visa type - on the dropdown menus I've chosen Settlement - Settlement - Wife as we want the Spouse visa, is that right?

Thank you :) I'll post an update to the thread I've been doing in case that's of help/interest to anyone too :like:

Appointment confirmation yes its to hand in your docs in person

Payment no hidden fees you will have to pay the Visa application cost plus the NH surcharge no hidden costs.

Letter of intent or invite letter, it is not written in stone that you have to submit one but most do, I have a different view to many on here as to the format of the letter, most write it to the officials explaining why they want their partner here and events etc I wrote it as an invite love letter to my wife, no set rules!!
28 day rule I made sure everything as no older than 28 days prior to application submission date (time moves on while your waiting for post couriers etc)
    Settlement wife is correct

    See answers in bold.

    Applicant
    * Appointment confirmation -- is this the appointment you'll get to submit the application/docs in person?
Yes you need this when you are ready to submit the documents to VFS.
Once you have submitted your online application, you'll have to book an appointment through your online account. There will be that option in your account. After making an appointment, you have to print the form.

*Confirmation of payment and relevant gov. fees -- could I ask what fee you paid and were there any extra fees? You're on a spousal visa, right? So upon digging this forum, according to @bigmac -- spouse visa fee is £1195--but paid in dollars so will be a bit more PLUS IHS surcharge £600. so--£1800 +++
You might want to check this thread:

*Letter of Intent -- I've yet to check but what kind of points do you mention in this? Intention of the applicant.

As long as your financial documents are within 28 days, that will be fine. :like:

Hi there congratulations on your marriage and the honeymoon :D

    As for your query:

#1 Appointment confirmation- yes you're right this will be the proof for your wife that she is booked to give documents and her biometrics. If she can't show this she will not be accommodated and will be sent away to print one. So make sure to include this.
#2 For a spouse visa you need to pay the application fee for approx £1195 (if I'm not mistaken) then you pay £600 for the IHS fee. If you want to go for priority you will have to pay additional £500 pounds (result will be within 10-15 days).
#3 Letter of Intent is from the applicant (your wife) and letter of sponshorship is from you (as the sponsor). Both letters should broadly agree on facts (how and when you met, when you were apart how did you feel about that, your shared personal interests etc) but don't copy from each other.

The 28 day rule counts starting from when you submit the online application. It means your bank statements should not be dated no more that 28 days from the date when the online application is submitted not from when you submit the documents at the VFS.

And yes as stated the catergory is right settlement-settlement-wife.

Good luck on your application ;)

the good news is --because youre now married---congrats on that----your wife will only be applying for one FLR---after the first 30 months. so--you save £811 compared to a fiancee visa ( settlement-settlement -marriage ). also--she is permitted to work as soon as she gets her BRP. ( if she wants to )
