Thank you so much for the the response timmers. Our intended date of travel is around 3rd week of march, I guess we can apply this december.

Also, just a question on the financial statement. On the cash savings part of the vaf4a, can we declare stocks as a form of cash savings? my partner and I have separate investments in stocks here in the philippines. I know stocks are.not really cash but we're thinking of including it in the finacial statement aside from her monthly salary (she's earning 36k annually) to prove that my partner can really support me. Can we add this as well?

your post confuses me. who is sponsoring who ? the sponsor needs to be earning £18,600 p.a. --in which case savings are not required.

Note that if the sponsor earns £18,600 pa then there is no need to submit financial documents related to savings. Six months payslips along with corresponding bank statements should be submitted if the sponsor is in salaried employment.

Remember that it is the sponsors finances the UKVI are interested in, the applicant can be penniless, it makes no difference to the application.

When using savings to meet the financial requirement of the visa then they must be held in a immediately accessible for six months prior to the visa application.

Sorry if my post is confusing. You see we are in a same sex relationship. My partner is a filipina nurse in the uk and she just recently got her british citizenship, while Im here in the philippines working as a rank and file employee in a private company. We're already 6 years in our relationship and we've decided to apply a fiancee visa so we can finally be together.

To be clear here's her financial statement:
    1. She's earning £36k per annum
    2. She has savings in her uk bank account
    3. She has investments here in the philippines in the form of stocks

she's earning beyond £18,600 per annum but we're thinking of still declaring her savings and investments just to really prove that she can support me. We really want to get the fiancee visa, we can't afford to be denied because it's very expensive.:cry::cry:And also after the fiancee visa, we have to get the spouse visa and pay for the health surcharge. There are a lot if fees to be paid!

Thanks bigmac and timmers for the response. I'll talk to my partner again about this. :)

It will not do any harm submitting your savings, its not a requirement but we did it when applying, whether it adds any weight to the application I do not know.

savings only count --if needed as part of the sponsors financial requirement---over £16,000. they need to be instantly accessible and legally held for 6 months or more.. as your partner earns more than double the requirement--why add whats not needed ?

its essential you both meet the other requirements to avoid refusal. we all had to pay the fees !

part 5 of the appendix is just for any extra information you think you need to give. if the application is straightforward--especially the sponsorship financial requirements and suitable accommodation---then a spouse visa app should be simple. only use part 5 of the appendix if something isnt quite right.

    Hi guys,

I'm not from the Phillipines but I hope you can help me. This is my situation:

I am a Trinidadian living in Trinidad in the Caribbean. My fiancé is British living in the UK. We would like to move to the UK using the Surinder Singh route via Ireland.

    1) If we got married in Trinidad, since Trinidadians do not need a visa to visit the UK nor Ireland for 6 months, can my 2 kids and I visit the Uk for a few months with my husband after the wedding, then move to Ireland before the 6 months are up? Would they still ask me for a spouse visa when I try to enter the UK even though we normally don't need a visa?

    2) Would I need a visa to go from the UK to Ireland?

    3) If I use a marriage visitor visa to get married in the Uk instead, then move to Ireland, what documents will I need to show when applying for that visa to prove that we intend to move to Ireland and not stay on in the UK?

    4) also, if I go the marriage visitor visa route, can my kids accompany me to the UK without a visa (as they wouldn't normally need one coming from Trinidad)?

awww thanks. I'm thinking of Ireland as it's English speaking. From reading different forums it's a popular route for those doing the SSingh method. My children only speak English as well so it will make the change easier for them. They are 6 years old.

My sister and her family live in Italy but I do not speak Italian lol

My fiance is born and raised in the Uk we have no family in Ireland though and cannot afford the application fees nor meet the financial requirements for the spouse or fiance visas. especially since it would be for me and 2 children. Very expensive.

Hi big mac, we looked at that option as well but his mum is disabled and cannot travel easily and as the only child he and his dad care for her. So living in the Uk is ideal but Europe on the whole would be faster and cheaper for him to see his family.

you think getting married in trinidad then trying for a spouse visa for us to go to the uk is better than trying the surinder Singh route then??

We would still have to find the app fees and meet financial requirements but it would be once instead of twice like going the fiancé visa then spouse visa way.

    please help.

for him to go "surinder singh" would mean him living and working in the other country--for a length of time--and then you have to find out that country's immigration policy. and he cant very well do that if he needs to care for his mother.

settlement visa fees are going to cost about £6000 for each of you over the next 5 years.

hmmm. £6000. His dad is the primary caregiver for his mum, as his parents are married. but he does help and lives about half hour away from them. So he can relocate if he wants as his father would still be looking after his mum.

Living in Ireland for instance would still allow him to see his mum more regularly than if he moved to Trinidad.

You are right we would have to look into the other country's immigration policy. In terms of settlement visas to the Uk, I also have to cater for visas for my 2 children.
