The government are throwing up a smokescreen of "people traffickers" fault, misdirection. Stop the incentives, cancel the domino orders, set a precedent.

There's lots of links in a smuggling chain, the cargo, in this case people, are passed fron one link to another, each link just shuttles them from one link to the next, the boats are just the final link in the chain, no more no less.

If someone buys a kitchen knife from Tesco and stabs a guy is it Tesco, the checkout girl, or the knife manufacturers fault?

ok--youve convinced me the supply chain isnt the problem--or the cause of it.

Any suggestions how the UK gov deal with the problem ? Or is there a problem at all ?

The chain isn't the cause, I think you have led quite a sheltered life :)
Yes there's a problem, I have already given my suggestion on how to stop it, cancel the pizza orders :)

Hmmm. Reading the above posts I think we've established that 'it's a disgrace'. Indeed it is, but perhaps not in the way that the author intended. :)

I fundamentally disagree that these people are 'animals'. They are human beings and in the main are no better nor worse than any of us. This type of fascist claptrap makes me feel sick to my stomach it's odd and sad really that a board devoted to immigration should even contain it. As @bigmac pointed out machine gunning these 'animals' on the beaches is not an option no matter how much some would like it.

There isn't an easy solution, but if families with children flee their homes and search for a better life I'm certainly not going to stand in their way. I have no right to do that, and, so long as these people are willing to work, which many of them likely are, I feel they should have their chance, so long as their reasons are genuine.

It is also not accurate to claim that the majority are economic migrants, so far as I know. I recall viewing a report that said that in fact that was not the case and that the majority were genuine asylum seekers.

Indeed, of the people that entered Europe this year, only a small fraction wanted to settle in the UK. It is untrue to believe that the UK is 'the destination of choice for the majority'. It is not. I feel people should quit being so xenophobic and take a bit less of the cool-aid.

I despair at the lack of basic humanity that has been expressed all too regularly here on this forum over the last six years, perhaps longer.

I agree with your assessment and it is making me sick to my stomach as well.

When illegal Filipinos enter sabah by boat illegally, if caught, they are sometimes beaten (who are they going to complain to? Its Malaysia, and they are illegals, no one gives a f**k), locked in a cell till there's enough of them, then booted out from whence they came.
