I've got a feeling that John is out working again until late in the afternoon.

Your salt levels look ok but as for the rest I am not qualified to comment Jim, I too would have thought that the doctor or consultant would have gone over your results with you.

i think the tc/hdl ratio needs to ideally be below 4.5. mine was higher than yours--now its below 4.

Your fasting blood glucose is good Jim . I had to convert to U.K. units. This is a good health indicator. Not the best indicator but it is commonly used and yours is a good number. I say good as it is still quite close to prediabetic levels. So you do need to go easy on sugar and starchy carbs.

Using the table above a FASTING Blood Glucose of 99mg/dl is just outside the prediabetes range and just inside the normal range. It would be interesting to see the same sampling on your pre Keto diet. Your blood glucose reading on your pre Keto diet could have been higher.

Did the doc explain that to you?

No sign of an HbA1c test I see.

Tomorrow I am having both ie HbA1c and FBG.

Do you have your previous FBG test result?

The FBG result is straight forward. The cholesterol figures are more complex to decipher. And your results are in US units so I need to convert them which I will do later.

The above chart in USA units helps.... See how it depicts your fasting blood sugars are just inside the normal range.

See the Tweet of Dr David Unwin. He monitors his patients on a low carb diet....

Your lipids aren’t too bad Jim. The Triglycerides are good and that’s important. Notice his patients HDL goes up. He states that increased HDL is good. Increase your aHDL and the TC/HDL ratio comes down.

How do you increase HDL? Consume more saturated fat such as fatty fish, olive oil, coconut oil, nuts.

No, but from now on I'm going to keep a record of all my lab results.
    No doctor there to explain.
    There's a Hemoglobin result on the other page I sent. 14.5... Range 12-14 gm% (f) 13-16mg% (m).
Good luck with your lab results ,John.

Thanks for all that John. I'm fairly happy but wondering about where did the sugar and carbs come from?
I don't take any sugar or eat anything with sugar in it. and I don't eat starchy foods.
Not sure if you have seen the other page I sent? Hematology and urinalysis

Ketone trace? I'd have thought I would be in full Ketosis? The only sugar I can think of is in Milk, I have a tea-spoon full in my coffee x 2 a day.
Carbs, under 15 carbs a day. Protein I have a lot from eggs, fish, meat etc.
Fat: bacon, sausage, salami, nuts, avocado. But I'm wondering if it's the fat-bombs I make. The butter, Looked at the nutrition facts: Total Fat, 11 g. Saturated fat 8 g and Trans fat 0.5 g. I know that trans fat is bad but would that mean a lot? The cream cheese is okay: sat fat 8 g, trans fat 0 g, total cards 2 g total sugars 1 g.

That Hemoglobin test result I suspect, is not the same as the HbA1c test. They are two different tests. The hemoglobin test measures hemoglobin protein in the blood. The HbA1c test measures average blood glucose over a 3 month period.

Where else can glucose in the blood come from in a fasting test?

Did you fast and for how long? Only water allowed in the 12 or so hours before the test.

The body generates its own glucose in more than one way. Glycogenesis is one. It simply makes it from the foods that you eat such as protein.

    Google “Dawn Phenomenon”

    https://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-glucose/dawn-phenomenon.html

    Stress will generate glucose.

Or it could be something in your diet that has some glucose in it. We are all different and respond differently to certain foods for example cheese or Greek yoghourt.

Oss should know by now what foods impact his blood sugar level as he tests and that is the only way to be sure. From my own point of view so far, I just rely on good rules of thumb which works for me.

But.. you are still in the green zone Jim. That’s good. You just need to tread carefully with the carbs. That’s what I do.

Yeah, they told me at the clinic to fast for 10 hours which I did and only drank water.

I have a lot of stress over here from various things. Driving is one, dogs barking at night waking me up 2-3 times, Karaoke and loud disco music at 7 am. Just living over here stresses me out.

I eat some cheeses and Greek yogurt. Maybe some of the sugars are from the gravy mix. Been told a lot of processed food over here has sugar in it, including bacon and sausages.

Carbs, I only have 15 or less total carbs according to carb manager.

Watch out for the sausages. They vary a lot in carb content. It should tell you on the label what percentage of carbs are included in the sausage meat. Back here in the U.K. if you are eating sausages outside the home they can be typically higher in carb content.

NHS Dr Simon Tobin of the Norwood Surgery in Southport writes today...

“With Dr David Unwin the Norwood practice (9,800 patients) in Southport has helped nearly 100 people reverse their Type 2 diabetes in the last 5 years.

    It's not rocket science

It's simply about cutting out the sugar + starchy carbs (cereals, bread, pasta, rice + potatoes)”. Below we see the costs to the NHS of the Norwood Surgery success.

Just got back from the doctor and I'm pleased to say:
    Liver. Normal
    kidneys. Normal
Lipids Normal but LDL needs to come down.
Told the Doctor I was on a Keto diet, I was surprised she knew about the keto and said same what John said, eat healthy fats and no starchy food continue the exercises. Ketosis has sorted my slightly fatty liver. That was the main reason why I went on the keto diet.

Fantastic result Jim. And I am guessing you know that ideally you need to keep the good work going.

Champagne time. And a genuine winner!

BTW It’s quite interesting to hear you say that your doc is in tune with Keto and it’s benefits. You guys living in some of the remotest places of the Philippines not only get great fibre broadband but great doctors too!
