Don't eat Cashews I know they are a problem a shame because I love them.

This mix is not bad and peanuts are not bad as well, it's all about quantity, you need enough for the fibre but not too many in terms of carbs and total fat.

What governs that erratic pulse, Oss?

I found that peanuts can vary in carb content. Watch out for those with a coating as they are typically higher.

Anyone with an internal pocket of infection will have high blood pressure, your heart rate will also increase dramatically if you are fighting a serious infection.

In June after I got out of hospital I used the Omron for about a month then stopped, that spike was a measurement taken by me at home because I was in distress and I went to A&E while I was there they measured me at something like 205/95 which shocked me, however they did bloods observed me for about 5 hours and sent me home as nothing was really way out of the ordinary.

My problem is that my pulse is fine sitting down but gets rapidly out of control standing up this is currently under investigation but even after an echocardiogram the guy said he could not see anything obviously wrong.

I think my problem is lack of activity and working from home, the repeated infections are the result of working from home on a couch 8 hours or more a day with pressure on one part of my backside.

Also going back to the August screenshot the pulse is not really out of the ordinary except on that one day, apart from that day the range is 60 to 80 odd bpm and that varies with posture and time of day.

Are you finding that as you lose weight, it gets easier to “leap about” a bit more?

Afraid not, right now I feel less fit than I did In March 2020.

I can tell that I am lighter but that is about it.

Low Carb is about establishing a healthy lifestyle for the long term. It's not necessarily a quick fix (although some people do lose weight quickly). Losing fat slowly and steadily and keeping it off is much better than a quick weight loss that doesn't last. Weighing yourself weekly is a good idea (daily measurements can go up as well as down). Measuring the inches around your waist is also a good idea as it is an indicator or how much visceral fat (the most harmful kind of fat) that you are carrying. Seeing how your clothes fit you is another way. If you are switching from a conventional calorie restricted diet, this might impact how you lose weight on low carb at first. Diet Doctor has some useful information about tracking your weight and measurements.

Are you not feeling a bit more agile with less weight to carry? Also less weight on the joints etc?

The heart tachycardia issue right now clouds everything.

I can feel that I am lighter but you have to remember that I am still 104kg.

The heart problem might just turn out to be that I am incredibly out of condition but in early March 2020 I could walk umpteen miles between pubs while I weighed 115kg, right now I would be scared to try that.

Well I will be joining you, sitting at home, clicking away at a keyboard. I am getting a bit of my old job back, temporarily at least. But will be ultra careful I watch what I eat. I don’t want to end up putting on weight.

Break through that 100 kg barrier and you will be getting towards my weight. I am in the high 80s right now.

There are an awful lot of people who do. Either those who don’t eat healthy fats or take statins or both.

mine is an inherited condition: hyperlipidemia. I was investigated by blood specialist Professor Mary Seed of the Hammersmith hospital: she said no diet would make any difference--it would have to be controlled by statins. Most of the common ones made no difference--in fact--made me ill. ( lipitor, lipobay, simvistatin, atorvastatin ). Then came the new "wonder "drug--rosuvastatin ( crestor). Ive been on it for years--it worked --i'm now below 4 and no side effects.
