My monitors don't suffer from glare :)

The trend towards shiny laptop screens was one of the dumbest things ever, my own personal laptops are all matte screens as are all my desktop monitors.

Sorry, Fleetwood. Not sure who ran it. I took many in Aberdeen but in the later years the company sent people to places nearer home as it was cheaper to do it that way. I lived in Manchester for years you see.

I worked on a Maersk rig a good few years back, in Danish waters. Great bacon butties!

Yeah, Fleetwood is the place, I worked on a Maersk FPSO just before Christmas in the North Sea, I was actually working with a couple of Danes too. I'm always told that the Danish and Norwegian rigs are a lot better food and accommodation wise than ours in the North Sea, maybe you can tell me that's the case.

I like the Danish people, their sense of humour is very close to ours. I worked in a place called Sonderborg for 18 months in Denmark and really enjoyed it there. I think at one time bacon was one of Denmark's biggest exports besides the Carlsberg of course. Maesrk I think is their biggest company now, I think its certainly the biggest container carrier in the world.

Didn't it use to be the biggest privately owned company in the world? Sounds like a lager advert eh? :D

The Danish food was very good but we were on a rig from the UK so we didn't quite see what you get on the Danish platforms but from what I saw in fleeting glimpses it was excellent and the Danish platforms were excellent too.

I believe the Norwegian rigs accomodation is very well appointed in terms of home comforts.

Oh and cracking Danish pastries for smoko too. :D

You were not harsh, fair but firm is the phrase I would use. My blood was slowly starting to heat up, I do not understand or want to know about religions that try to impose their beliefs on others.

Different religions should be able to co exist and be tolerant to other peoples beliefs above all else.

On my last trip one of the Scottish lads told me that on one Norwegian rig he was on had a alcohol free bar including beer taps LOL, single accommodation and they also had tricycles to go between the three joined rigs.

Oh while I remember, the Carlsberg special brew was made especially for Winston Churchill, as a tribute I believe.

Cant beat a bit of trivia.

    :D

I can remember beer in UK waters many years ago, until they stopped it. 2 cans maximum per night. They pulled the rings upon purchase so you couldn't stock up and have a bender one night.

I believe not sure that beer is still available on merchant ships, makes sense like you say about removing the ring pull.

I'm surprised Wetherspoons haven't tried to open one up on a rig LOL, I believe they have just opened one at Beaconsfield service station on the M40 or 42.

Another bit of trivia for you regarding Wetherspoons, it is named after the teacher who said that the owner of Wetherspoons would do nothing in life as he was so bad at school, Tim I think the owner is called, cant remember his last name. Kiwi too I think .

Just noticed you are drinking milk in your avatar? I gave up alcohol a few years ago. Not 100% but 99%.

But going back to the Carlsberg thing I always enjoyed a few the night before going out to the rig in Esbjerg. :like:
