The application is made online. It's just a matter of selecting how long you'd like the visa to be valid for. The Visa4UK online form webpage is here:- https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/home/welcome The long term visit visa's do need some explanation of the need to visit the UK regularly over a longer period It's possible to apply for for a visa that lasts 1, 2, 5 or 10 years. You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit. It's not possible to stay for 2 years. Do also be aware that entry could be denied at UK point of arrival if excessive visits are made that lead the Immigration Officer to believe the holder is actually residing in UK rather than visiting. There’s an extra fee to pay, which depends on the length of the visa validity: 1 year - £324 2 years - £324 5 years - £588 10 years - £737 Good luck
I see so it basically the same as six month jus different length, well basically my girlfriends 6 months has ran out and we jus want to make things abit easier to visit each other, as I get 20 days holiday a year I can go there but it soon takes them up. But I guess they don't see it as a good enough reason. thanks for help micawber.
forgive me for being stupid, but if we got this visa, and lets say in after a years time we want to get married do we have to wait til it runs out before applying?
You can apply for Fiance(e) visa (from outside UK) whilst a visitor visa is still valid. The visa sub-type for Fiance(e) is called marriage. Not to be confused with a special visit visa called a Marriage Visa. The 'spouse' visa has a visa sub-type such as wife/husband All this become clearer when you actually see the drop-down menu selections within the online form.
so if I marry my gf in Philippines we would go for spouse visa? if we marry in uk we go for fiance visa?
Yep Although technically the mandatory requirements for all settlement route visa applications is pretty much the same. Fiance(e) visa applications demand a little bit more attention to the evidence to support genuine relationship and intention to get married.
thanks for clearing that up for me, hopefully its a good success rate for the two year visa, I know I was unlucky with our first 6months. But that's not so bad to lose £90 than £324
The success rate for visit visa's in general is pretty good. The important factor would be explaining why a longer term visa is needed and what compelling reasons there are to return home before the expiry of the 6 month visit duration.
so kind of similar to our 6months then lay It on thick about returning home for work and to a condo etc etc
bigmac do they just make you start again if something not quite right or would they ask questions rather than say point blank unsuccessful
outright refusal if the application is fundamentally unsound--such as not meeting the financial requirements--it does happen. i think there has been cases where applicants have been given time to correct an error though. if in any doubt--run your application by us on here--get unbiased free opinions.
unfortunately--some applicants dont realise the financial requirements are mandatory. the application forms are hard enough if English IS your first language !
The application process I found to be quite vague as to what supporting documentation should be included with the application, I would like to see all the supplementary notes included at the bottom of the financial form, but that's probably too easy. Its very easy to see where people can slip up during their all important application, all the required information for a successful application is spread widely over the Government websites. Thank God for British Filipino and the like, makes life a little easier for sure
Hi Steven, yes the same form however you will need to indicate in the cover letter you wanted long term and also if I remember rightly there is an option to select two year, five year and 10 year visit visa. You will explain why you wanted so and pay £324.
