Sensible move, wait and see if the virus will burn itself out on the wealthier travelling nations before taking a chance of importing any more variants, while their own vaccination programme is still ongoing, they have been fairly slow so far I am guessing supply problems.

I just watched TV Patrol last night and heard there was 1 Covid case and they have LEVEL 4 locked down straight away. Then I contacted my friend who is married to a New Zealander living in New Zealand, she said immediately there was 30 who got infected already!

The Delta variant is one of the most infectious viruses in the world, its mutations allow it to replicate 1000 times more than the original wild type virus, all along this has been an airborne disease spread in aerosols, the advice early on about washing hands and surfaces was overkill as that was not the primary way it was spreading, it wasn't even coughs and droplets allow they would have infected other others around them it was mostly in the aerosol people breathe out with every breath, Delta fills each breath with many many more virus particles then the original.

New Zealand have the right idea but even they might not be able to stop it if it is Delta.

And yet there are some people who still think it’s a government propaganda so they won’t have the vaccine as it has a microchips that will enable the government to track people individually and to have control with them! :frust::frust::frust:

Don't forget the magnetised arms, and the 70% reduction in the world population within a couple of years of having the vaccine and restructuring the DNA to make us all more controllable :)

A lot of people are worried about the Sinovac… including a friend of mine who believes it’s best avoided.

Sinovac! Apparently is not as good as any other vaccines. I’ve heard that Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are going to stop using Sinovac.

Good job Sinovac isn't used in Europe, the fat lady may not be singing else but at the moment she's singing loud and clear. One week to go to the holiday the prophets of doom gloom and we know best predicted wouldnt happen, happens.
Keep singing fat lady well till November at least.

My first comment regards European holidays this year was in this post Visiting European Countries

My statement was that it would depend on vaccination rates in the target country or countries, well the EU now has 6 countries ahead of the UK in terms of total vaccinated population percentage, they were not in that position in May, France has almost caught up with the UK and is currently administering 10 times the number of daily first doses as the UK therefore like much of the rest of Europe will overtake the UK in terms of vaccination pretty soon.

And from a cases per day and deaths standpoint Germany is in a far better position than we are or have been, even when faced with Delta.

I've gone through most of this thread again since April and nobody was suggesting anything other than being cautious about being overoptimistic.

It was an expression used by John Ash much earlier in the thread Mystica :) meaning don't count your chickens until they are hatched or don't presume you know the outcome of something that is still happening right now. :)

Sinovac is a traditional inactivated virus vaccine, they are injecting you with real COVID but in a form that is harmless, some real world studies show that it is still preventing a lot of hospitalisation and a lot of deaths but overall it is not stopping infections, so having Sinovac is still way better than nothing.
