aah--mine still works--for now--lol----but if you click on me--in blue--it shows i'm banned --forever lol.
Once I had got most of what I needed from that forum I couldnt stand reading some of the bullshit. I had realised what happened if somebody disagreed with them as I had seen it often enough so I knew what would happen if I disagreed and it happened. They talk about freedom of speech ( but what they mean is freedom to be racially abusive and freedom for them to be opinionated ) but without allowing anybody else to have a different point of view. So it went on from there. Doc Alan was a classic. If you disagreed with him then all hell broke lose. What they wanted you to do was high five him and thank him profusely for his point of view. I actually didnt disagree with most of what he said but when I did and said so then they let you know they wernt happy. Just one example. The worst were those that had spent some time in the Philippines. Then they felt it gave them the right to apply their expertise outwith. Their membership is self perpetuating, in favour of like minded persons.
i got banned for standing up for a guy who was being slandered and humiliated--whilst he was offline. by then i couldnt give a toss about the sad bully who owns the site.
Let's open this thread again. I post very occasionally on a couple of other (non Philippine) forums, I find that British Filipino is now being swamped out by politics. No idea why, it kills the purpose of the forum. Can anybody recommend a forum where discussions about British / Philippines are the priority. Thanks for any advice. Dave..
Tend to agree Dave. It has become very political on here with not so much of the Filipino element left, unless you count taking your Filipina wife/GF to a political rally. Yes I do understand that I am free to avoid those political threads, but that's not the point. It is, or so I thought when I joined, a Filipino focussed forum. I am also a member of 3 other forums Living in the Philippines, Philippines-British Expats and Philippines Expat Forum. Also FB, Twitter, LinkedIn.
Why is there 50% politics? I feel that many people who should be helped by this forum are being driven away.
Don't think so, my last 2 screen shots show the divide more like 16/5 No way is it a 50/50 split, not lately at least. Political posts far outnumber all the other subjects added together.
Sorry for the delay I was watching an Airline safety film I hardly ever watch those sort of threads but as it was a wedensday I thought I would give it a go Lets see 9 not politics 9 politics including a visit to political unionised tolpuddle
Actually Methers even the posts you make in the politics sections are often humorous and make enjoyable reading, plus you do not go on ad nauseam, like some others.
Yes I agree and what you want should be this place, why do you think some of us get upset. Personally I would far rather have fewer posts and more discussion of cultural and personal issues on here, but at the end of the day it is the choice of the membership, you make it what it is.
Im not really into the politics stuff and that's why I dont post in there. Has anyone Brit or Pinas stories to share? Ive got a Brit one... Currently in the lake district with Asawa and the kids. We have recently took up camping. She enjoys visiting different places and the kids get some fresh air into their lungs. I ususually take a tent, one of these new fan-dangled ones that doesn't use poles but inflatable air beams. Very quick to erect and despite the design seems sturdy in blowy conditions. This time I decided not to take it as rain was forecast and I didnt want to pack it away wet. So with that I rented a pod. Glad I did because there are flashes and rumbles of thunder tight now Went south to Windermere today and rented a motor boat. The eldesy was captain until she decided she needed a a wee. Also went to the Beatrix Potter place, they seemed to like that. Id of rather gone to the NT Beatrix Potter house but maybe tomorrow if the rain keeps up. Might also pop to the NT Wordworth's estate. Just having tea, Rice of course!
