    Thanks Glenn & Matt

    What a f up!

Is there a method of contacting UKVI by email?

I guess the email will have to come from Kris as she is the applicant (also on behalf of her son) - but I can draft of course.

Kris is asleep just know and isn't aware of this yet - the poor thing will, like me, be crestfallen when I tell her.

I'm not sure if you can contact them Gerry. I don't know their contact details and its unlikely it will be directed to the case officer that will handle your case.

Thanks Glenn - I have found the email (and 'phone) details. You have to choose if contacting from within or outwith the UK. The help service is outsourced (inevitably) and aims to reply within 1 working day - which I guess means Tuesday of next week.

We'll just have to be honest - and see if there is any flexibility that would allow the existing applications to remain valid.

    I'm however not hopeful.

    Thanks for your support.

I hope you get something with them coz if I am not mistaken that contact details you saw are run by third parties and not the UKVI themselves but I really hope you can sort that out. :(

Thanks - you are correct. Which is why I'm not hopeful of a positive response.

However - nothing ventured nothing gained.

    Cheers.

If you phone them the contact number on the UKBA website yhey will give you a case number and offer advice. There is a charge per minute for the call

Although Gerry in theory they might consider that. They won't be checking your application right away anyway. Chances are they will look at the application maybe by April already and they might overlook the 6 days. Since you put June 1 for the travel date the earliest you can apply is March 2. A few days earlier might not hurt. Don't lose hope. I'm not trying to set your hopes high but I want you to remain positive. :)

I personally do not think there will be a problem, its a genuine oversight, sit tight and try not to worry about it.

I would like to think that meeting the requirements are more important than mistakenly putting the wrong travel date (if you were to contact the UKVI) :)

I'd agree with Glenn (Brom) here Gerry. I doubt see it at too much of an issue. They encourage to apply up to 3 months early, but standard applications can up to, and over, 60 days to process and that's after the documents submission date, which is less than 3 months before your stated travel date. Realistically I can't see them rejecting on this basis.

But I may be wrong and if as has been said others have fallen foul of it, fair concern. Perhaps those were more like applying 6 months early or something..?

    I think you're fine :)

And we have to remember that the settlement visa processing time in some countries can take 4 - 6 months.

    Thanks Glenn, Timmers & JT.

I'm wondering if they will reject the applications on this ground would we be advised quickly? I can just imagine some civil servant sitting in the embassy with a calendar to check the 3 month criterion was met.

I'll discuss with Kris when she wakes up - I guess we have until Monday in which to decide whether to 'fess up and throw ourselves at their mercy -- or sit tight and take comfort (hopefully) in the fact that no news is good news.

Go for the "sit tight and take comfort" option Gerry (your call entirely of course), my gut is telling me you'll be fine (and I'm a worrier) but none of us can say for sure of course.

No Gerry they will not refuse your application on that ground. The likely scenario will be, they will class your application as invalid because you applied too soon but then again I believe they will overlook the 6 days, it's not really that advance anyway. Don't worry about it. Calm your tits. You need more gin and tonic tonight :like:

Thanks guys - Kris has now awoken from her slumber and we've discussed.

We're going to sit tight and hope for the best.

My moobs (man boobs) are cooling as I type! :)

One small point - Kris is still waiting on the SMS from VFS confirming that the documents have been passed to the British Embassy.

In the case of the visitor visa she received that the same evening.

Fingers crossed all will be well

Thanks everyone for all the help and support - much appreciated by both Kris and I.
