@HaloHalo , I think it's his brother who was divorced, not the lady in Phil. From her statements, I assume his brother is british, working here, owns a house.

Thanks for the information that's just what I was looking for I'll go have a read through all of that. Yeah you are right, it's my brother who was divorced but that was all finalized around 2 years ago. So in your opinion would it be better for them to go for the fiance visa? And am I right in thinking that she can then apply to stay here? Or does she have to return after the 6 months and apply to come over as his wife? Thanks

I'd go for fiance visa if they can meet again once more, even just for few days. After marrying here, she can switch her fiance visa to spouse via FLR (M) route. She can apply for FLR (M) as soon as they get married.

That's brilliant thank you so much I will advise them to go down that route. Is there by any chance a list or breakdown of all of the costs involved in applying for the visa? Sorry if that is on the link you sent I haven't had time to look tonight. Thanks for all of the help it's really appreciated.

It's on the link. The cost is the same as the spouse visa (if applied outside the UK). Except for IHS fee, no IHS fee if you're applying for fiance visa. She has to have IELTS and TB exams.

Have you contacted your MP yet, @UKDJ? Think yours have reached 100+ days already?

Yeah I am in contact with my MP's office... I expect they have to wait 'up to 15 days' for a reply, same as Joe Public! Today (July 5th) was Day 97 for us...
No word from @Crafty recently, who is 8 working days ahead of us (Day 105?), so I guess he has heard nothing either!

I had the same email on 2/7/18. either there is a big backlog or they are short of staff, holidays etc seems the busy time of the year, or they are just hopeless not sure what the answer is.

Hi All, Yep i am on 106 working days. I called the Ombudsman last week. They told me to hound my MP's team more, and get them to call UKVI. I've only been talking to a case worker, so next week i will try to call my actual local MP.

Just the 'auto-response' email reply... they usually say you will hear within 15 (working) days, but we never have!

The downward trend in performance has continued to increase since (at least) February, so I don't 'buy' the backlog or holidays theory... staffing, maybe, or as has been mentioned before, the government's own handling of the Windrush fiasco...?

    Welcome back @wardy33...

... Anybody's guess! Shouldn't affect anything, but you never can tell!
I fear you still have a long wait ahead of you, going by the experience of myself and @Crafty having both gone way past the 60 days...
