I doubt we will know in the near future, we can all have our own views of what was/is right or wrong in this instance, but all in all we should just wish her well for the future.
Very interesting thread, I hope no-one questions the legality of the marriage. That really would be a can of worms.
a question--under the pre july 2012 rules--was there such a thing as a marriage visit visa---as separate from the general visit visa ?
I'm guessing there was as the visa is really for couples who plan not to settle permanently, just marry here.
@Geneveve what type of visa you got? because in my case, just saying for you and other people reading this...i entered UK with marriage visit visa, we got married at the city hall, and i did not exit or return back home, everything went well,no questions or issue from the HO, i got my BRP,NI,NHS ID, registered to GP, and working for 7months now..i entered last year Feb. and got married April.
Well that's interesting. But no guarantee same thing will happen to others. You're lucky you got away with it which buffles me tbh.
so can i ask--did you have to pay for a Further Leave to Remain visa ?--its £811---plus £500 for the NHS surcharge .
maybe i'm jumping to conclusions---but i get the feeling we UK citz are being treated differently to our EEA guests.
Of course we are I'm not sure what the rules are regarding Filipinos who have married EU Nationals and now live in the UK, I'm guessing that whatever the rules are it will change after Brexit. That's the beauty of the SS route, go to live in another EU country for 6 months, apply for residence permit then bring the missus into the UK without paying a bean
