    Hi BF friends,

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me with my visa application. I have been granted a fiancee visa recently and I would like to share my experience to express my gratitude and hopefully to help those who are going though the same process.

The requirements I have submitted are the same as what most of the members here have submitted. I have submitted some unnecessary papers so I don't want to confuse anyone with that.

VFS scanning- applicants will have an option to scan their supporting documents at VFS (for a fee). Barcode separators are required, this is available at the VFS website, instructions are also there. Scanning was quick, 3-5 mins but I had to wait for about 15 mins for the scans to be "submitted". The VFS lady was not sure if the scans come out as B&W or colored (she thinks its B&W), which is a shame because I spent lots on colored printing.

Get it right- for a fee, the lady went through my supporting documents if its complete. Took her about 2 minutes and said it is complete as per embassy requirements.

Decision- the VFS lady explained that decision is now made in Sheffield which could take up to 3 months.

Priority Visa- again for a fee, application will be put in front of the queue. I asked how will UKVI know that my application is priority, they said they stamped my form and they have a transmittal record. VFS did not ask for my cenomar to avail of the priority service.

Refund- because of some error on my part, I had to withdraw my application and request for a refund. It took UKVI 3 weeks to approve my request and 2 days for Worldpay to return my payment.

Using an agent- we paid for an agent based in Manila who promised us so much but was in the end useless. I was too stressed to even deal with him as he has caused us so much delays and made so many excuses. I think if your application is straightforward and you are good at making research, better save that money for something more worthwhile.

We are so happy we were granted the visa, now we have our wedding to arrange and FLR to prepare and save lots of money for!:)

As part of Fiancé visa, when submitting original documents do they give copies back?
My partner is worried about receiving her ‘ielts’ certificate back.

My Fiancé sent out Fiancé application visa to Dubai embassy on the 10 October, yesterday she recived notification that the application had been processed. Today she received her passport with 6 months Fiancé visa! Returned within seven days of the application taking place.
We are very happy, and want to thank every body who has supported us though this application. This is a wonderful and very supportive site and we would have struggled with out your support.

    Many thanks to every one.

Congrats to you both. It does appear that visa applications made in Dubai are processed somewhat quicker than in Philippines or Sheffield.

    Thanks everybody.

Can I ask when my Fiancé books her flight to England, does she have to book a return flight? Or is one way ok? I don’t want her arriving at Heathrow and them saying you need a return flight.

Shop around online with flights you may find a return is cheaper than one way oddly, but is sometimes the case out of the Philippines

No need for a return. The officers know that it is a settlement visa.
