To me it is buying affection, no wonder they come to the UK, everything's free and their worries are over.

But seriously. When I met my first wife I didnt have two beans to rub together.

Not sure that is quite right. In our case we were engaged at that point and she had no work. I could easily afford the 400 a month. Sure, for some its a lot. For others its peanuts. For me it was affordable. Once we were married and she was waiting for her visa it continued and why not, she was my wife.

Now that she is here she doesnt work but looks after me and the baby and I still treat her well. Whats wrong with that?

I can see your point, but I think you are putting a twist on this topic that isnt there. At least in our case, anyway. I am not too keen on any inference that my Mrs is a money grabber or can be bought. She isnt like that. And its time to call it a day when people on a FilBrit forum start putting that slant across in my direction.
